summer summer summertime

School is out! Our first year of homeschooling is done and I couldn't be prouder of my chitlins for enduring a year of ever changing plans and curriculum. They went with the flow and I think we did rather well for not having a bleeping clue about what we were doing. It is officially summer at our house. *Please don't tell my kids that on June 1st we start out SummerBridge workbooks. Eeeek. It is just one little page of things to keep their minds fresh during the summer. No big deal, right?

We have a few things planned until school starts in the fall.  We are taking the kids to the Miller family cabin in Okoboji over the 4th of July. Should be a fun time of heat, mosquitoes, and fireworks. At some point my sister and I and all our kids are going to spend some time with my last living grandparent in Walnut Grove, MN. Grams is a total crack up of a lady. She is a tiny woman who loves to smoke and gamble. She won a bunch of cash at a casino and paid for a kitchen remodel at her church. She is the best. The trip de resistance will be for Chad and I at the end of August to celebrate TEN years of wedded bliss. We are going to Cape San Blas, FL for a week. Just the two of us. We are staying here. I can't wait to spend a week on the beach during the day and in the hot tub in the evening with my hubs sipping champagne and toasting to a wonderful life together. Nestled among our mini trips and the big one will hopefully be weekends away to the Omaha Zoo, a trip to Ikea in MN, and playdates galore!!

What are your summer plans??

WOW Manda! How cool is that vacation home?! In a way it reminds me of the movie "Nights in Rodanthe." So cute! Tell me how it was when you get back!
